Lord of the Flies has been voted in at number 6 in Amazon’s survey of the Top 10 Best Debut Novels of All Time! Golding’s 1954 classic received 17% of the vote from the poll of 2000 British readers, just ahead of Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. J K Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was number 1 in the list.
